Can you upgrade an earlier 300mhz clamshell to play DVDs? I know the hardware won't run them, but is iDVD a software DVD decoder as well?

iDVD is an application to create DVD content, i.e. you can make home-movie type DVD's.
You should be able to use a program such as VLC to take care of software decoding, not sure how smooth it would be on that machine though..
