Any way to quickly set an image as a desktop background from within Finder or the desktop w/o having to go into preferences?

I can't think of a way. You can do it through Safari by right clicking on an image and you can reach the Sys prefs quickly by right clicking the desktop but I don't think you can set this via the Finder like you can in Windows.

You can access Automator via a right click from the Finder, maybe you could set an Action up to do this, not sure.

its fairly quick anyway if you right click on the desktop and choose change desktop background.

15"MacBook Pro 2.7 GHz i7 (2013) | 15"MacBook Pro 2.6GHz (2018) both OS 10.14.1 | iPhone 6 OS 12.1
right click/control click on the desktop...there is an option "Change Desktop Background"

you will be directly taken to your default desktop images folder...

That's what I want but I don't get that when I right click an image.

It's no big deal, just wondered if it was possible.

Hm... I even get it from your avatars... and about every image. Link me to the image you want to do it with.

EDIT: I even get it from that annoying ad in the middle of the thread...

Oh I know from a browser you can, THAT, I know. I meant from OS X itself whenever I'm in a given folder or desktop.
