It started as a stroll around the lake...

until this little white thing snapped at me. I'm rollerblading around Lake Phalen (for ya locals) with my brother and his friend, and at one of the observation piers is a little white dog just cowering against it down by the water. The dog is soaking wet and shivering cause he is cold it appears. So, naturally we try go to it and kinda pet it and see if we can pick it up to bring it somewhere safe. It must have been injured or something, cause it barked at as a lot, ya know, a dog injured, needs to use intimidation at that point to keep safe. So, we call the animal shelter/control whatever it is and they are closed. We get a different number to somewhere else... from there we get transfered to a different number belonging to the St. Paul Police Animal Rescue. The dog looked abandoned or abused. It had no collar, was limping-ish, defensive, all that.

So then, A cop car shows up, and 2 cops in it. One tries to grab it and gets yelped at. Rather funny, 5 guys all around this tiny dog afraid to get bit... we can't grab it! So, he is scared and he pulls out his nightstick and says something like "Oh no, I'm not gonna let you bite me". At this point I'm thinkin like, "What the... are you gonna hit that thing with that stick?". I was scared to watch. Fortunately, he just used it to kinda touch the dog to get him to calm down a bit. Then another squad car shows up... now I'm like, wow. I'm sorry I called and made a big deal out of a single tiny dog, you guys seriously have 3 cops and 2 squad cars here to grab this puny thing? They finally get it on a leash and I leave.

Here ends my lake story. That made me think though... how many cops could an injured/abandoned horse by a lake attract?

sometimes cops just don't have a lot to do, so might as well back up the guys who are doing something. The safest places where I live are the Starbucks and the video rental store: always 2-3 cars there.

Wow... that's a bit rediculous =P I have a similar story...

There was a massive drug bust in my street yesterday - One cop car pulled over a car in my street and talked to the guy... he went back to his car, radioed in backup I assume and SEVEN MORE cop cars turned up. They then arrested this guy and searched his car... found 109kg of cocaine and heaps of bags of cash.

^^ Wow! Yeah, I think you want plenty of backup for something like that. With that amount of drugs and money, I would fully expect the guy to have backup of his own nearby.

I once heard this crazy lady on cops say something, and it was a couple year ago, and it still touches me to this day.

"ALL THE COPS IN THE DONUT SHOP SAY WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!!?!"

Well, if the dog were rabid, you'd certainly want all the help you could get to avoid being bit.

Our cops would just shoot it. Or just not do anything.

We have over 100 cops in our suburban town. A stray dog was sitting in our yard, so we grabbed it and called the police. They said they would send a cop to pick it up. About 4 hours and 3-4 calls later, a cop finally shows up. At this point the guy who owned the dog drove by and picked it up. The cop, when he came, doesn't even get out of his car and just talks to us out his window. He was rude and short and looked irritated about even having to come.

I've been pulled over many times for 'looking suspicious' (ie young and driving a beater). How absurd. With gas prices so high, I wonder how much we spend on gas for them to sit taking radar all day. And now our mayor wants to create a mayor's court...ugh.

the city i live in doesn't even have a police department. We borrow cops from a couple of cities over.
