Hello,

I have a lombard. 400mhz, 4GB hard drive, 512MB Ram.

It's slow. It has 10.3 on it, and is slower than the worms.
Well, it's not THAT bad for an occasional surfing machine, but if I had to use it every day I would scream.
I've only tried 2 linux distros in my life (Not on a Mac)
Linux XP (I LOVED IT), and Ubuntu.
Liked Linux XP better than Ubuntu.
Ubuntu always failed on me!

Anyway, should I put a Linux distro on my Lombard?
I only use it for surfing/im.
Sometimes I use it for dial up, any distro offer AOL connect? Doesn't matter that much though.

Recommendations?
Thoughts?
Comments?

I'm curious.

Thanks,
Tanner.

Linux tends to be a good choice for older hardware. One thing you should consider is finding a copy of OS 9. That would be very snappy on the machine you have there.

I'd recommend going for Debian. It's a power distribution. It's also the distribution that Ubuntu is based off of. It's very fast and lightweight.
