At some point in my reboot of my ibook, my dock gets restarted to the normal default items that were there. Does anyone know what will cause this?

Thanks.

did you zap the pram? sometimes this can be a result, but its rare. a corrupt os is another possibility. also have you recently installed any new software or hardware?

If it is only the Dock, trash the Dock preference file (com.apple.dock.plist) and let it build a new one.

its system prefs>accounts>security tab. if you dont know how to zap the pram, you probably didnt. you hold down command+option+p+r while starting up, you dont let go until you hear the mac chime*(startup sound) 5 times.

o, just noticed youre running 10.2.8, seems to have had a problem with the os going corrupt, Ive seen it like 10 times in OS 10.2.5-10.2.8. I hope this is not the case.

Nah the os haven't gone corrupted on me. Just the dock restarting that's about it.

FileVault is in System Preferences.

The end of the first line of items is Security. I have seen numerous occasions where filevault has had problems with plist things
