I have a disk image of my main disk from before I formatted my entire harddrive, but it won't mount. If I double click it in Finder, this happens:

So I went into the disk manager thing and verified the volume, which it now somehow did recognize, which seemed to be fine, but when I clicked Mount this happens:

How do I access this Disk Image without having to restore it, if that would even work, or what is causing these problems?

Looks like you are up for a format and clean install. If you want to back up your system suggest an external HDD and SuperDuper or a similar program me that makes the external drive bootable via System Preferences.
