• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I'm trying to export a project to Mpeg 2 so that I can burn it in DVD Studio Pro. When I go to quicktime Conversion MPEG4 is the only mpeg format available. How do I get it so I can export it into Mpeg 2 so I can burn? Will DVD SP burn MPEG 4 format??? Please help because I"m really mad at this program.

You use Compressor for that.

My experience is based on FCE, but I believe DVD Studio Pro will perform the conversion to MPEG2. Most of the time the file is kept in the lowest compression format in the editing process until DVD Studio does the conversion to DVD format. Apple products normally does not work in MPEG2. If you convert to MPEG 2 earlier, DVD Studio will convert it again for the disk.

On FCE, I believe I can use QT to convert to MPEG2 if I buy the MPEG 2 for it. For FCS, it is in Compressor if you are not directly creating a DVD.

Compressor creates the appropriate files that are directly used by DVD Studio Pro. No conversion is needed.

If you use compressor as xstep suggested, then DVD Studio Pro will on created the needed items for the menus and other things for the DVD.
