hi
i am new to mac and seem to know nothing about how it works
my macbook dvd drive went bad some time back
and my mac recently crashed
i have the original mac cds so i purchased a external dvd drive
but as it turns out it can t boot from a exter usb dvd drive
so now my computer is not working
when i start it
it seems to boot into safe mode itself
and gives the errors
u need to restart ur computer hold the power key fer a few seconds
it s called panic or something in the apple website
i need help on how to fix my laptop
please some one help me
i have a external usb hard disk drive
and a windows based laptop if this can help
even a external dvd reader and the original mac cds

Well, if your optical drive is bad you can't reinstall the OS unless you happen to have a clone backup on a USB external drive. So the first step is to fix the optical drive. If you can't do it yourself, I recommend taking it to an Apple Store or a an Apple certified repair shop.

i have another question regarding the same problem
i how access to my brothers apple now
running 10.4 same as what my laptop came with
is there a way to recover my laptop now
