G4 still have a strange restart problem: desktop all funky

Here's how my desktop normally looks:

But when I Shut it down, every once in a while, it returns with this:

A restart fixes it, but I was wondering if there was a permanent fix. Even when I had that old background, everything is so huge. The windows don't fit. It's like it's zoomed in a little bit.

Please, if anyone knows anything about this, speak up.

It looks like the display resolution got changed. I don't know of any reason why that would happen on a reboot.

Look for corrupt preference files. You can use this app.

Could also try OnyX. Run the maintenance scripts, delete caches, etc...
