Hi all ,

I recently acquired a ppc g4 mirror door 1ghz fw800 from someone. It had no hdd so i installed a spare formatted 80gb.

I installed leopard from my usb drive and installation went well.

When I try to re boot , i get the chime but the mac wont pick up the os.

Any ideas.

Cheers

Mintzyd:)

G'day and welcome to the Forums.

Do you have the original Leopard full retail DVD? If so do a format of the drive and install from that. Make sure the drive is Mac OS Extended format and Run Repair Disk when booted from the DVD.

You will need the install DVD for maintenance, so if you do not have one, go out and purchase a copy.

it originally asks for me to format the drive AS a guide partition. I did this .

the drive deffinatly works as when I boot it in target disk mode from my MacBook I can get into leopard and the I'd works . I have the original DVD so I will try repairing the permissions . Who would think . All this trouble so I can use it as a stand alone server.

I'm new to mac forums . You are from aussi ?

Did you install an "intel" version of OS X? I don't know if there is a difference, but I assume there must be.
