Hi,

Am looking for a way to view Webcasts ( build in wmv format ) from inside Safari.

Although the forum contains some posts on this subject , could not really find a solution.

Any tips ?

Thanks and Cheers

Alycia ,
Thanks for the tip.
Installed Flip4Mac .... however ... no luck viewing the webcast media.

Error message is " The movie could not be opened. A necessary data reference could not be resolved "

Has anyone seen this type of error before ?

What is the best way to view webcasts in wmv/wvx format from inside Safari v3.1.1 ( latest update . )

Cheers

Can you post the URL to a couple of the sites you can not view the Video on?

Thank you for your attention.

So far had the issue with several media files on the following site.

https://mx3.securityforum.org/userfiles/webcasts/recordings/Endpoint.wvx

Site is protected, so unless you ( or the company you work for ) is a registered member, you won't get in.
I am looking at other sites as we speak.

I Can see the webcasts on Vista using Safari.... a bit weird I would say.

In the mean time I also installed Perian, based on other suggestions, but no success. .... A Blank screen is all I get.
Impact is also that the CPU for the Safari process goes to 98% and stays there until I quit Safari

It is not a showstopper at the moment as long as I have Vista, but would prefer to use the Mac only..

Cheers

The site may work only in Windows.

There are quite a few member only sites out there, that will only work in Windows. Have one we use at work, will not operate in any OS except XP or Vista. That one allows me to log in, and can navigate to a few pages within the site. But most of the pages that actually have the members only content will not open nor download in anything but windows. They use ActiveX controls which will not function in either Linux nor OS X.

bobtomay,

Your explanation could make sense as I just installed Firefox on the Mac and it won't let me view those webcasts either....

I will send the owner of the website a request for information on this and I will share the reply with the forum.

In the meantime, Vista will have to do the trick hmmmmm.........

Cheers
