    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.

Is there a way using DVD pro Studio or Idvd to make 6 GBs fit on a normal single layer DVD. I know it will decrease the quality but thats fine, I just want to find a way to do it. Let me know if you know how to compress files using either of these programs!

How long is the video? From what I understand, iDVD compresses the video as part of the burning process. As long as the video isn't over 2 hours it should work.

ARe those programs you mentioned free? I don't want to pay for any of this process seeing as I already paid for Final Cut.

If the content is in FCP, then you should be able to use compressor to export the file for use in DVD SP. You should be able to compress it enough to fit a single sided DVD. You would need to encode the audio separately and account for its size too.

Everytime I try using FCP into Compressor the program freezes up and I have to force quit. This crap is really really frustrating. I wanted a Mac because they Just work but man Final Cut is so difficult to use and there are so many different programs just to make one DVD.

If you are having consistent crashes then something is wrong. Start a thread to help your self figure it out. Give the versions of OS X, and your Final Cut Suite and any errors that maybe appearing. Also check the logs via the Console.app to see if any errors are registering there. Oh, and do a search hear, on Google, and the appropriate Apple forums first.

Of course there are many tools to make a DVD. You are using professional software. Each of those applications are full on pro apps, not cut-down-get-to-the-end apps like iMovie and iDVD.

retistel, you probably shouldn't reply if you don't have an answer or lead. At best it is considered wasted bandwidth in a couple of ways.

No. First I mentioned the right app to use if his content was in FCP. Second I was encouraging him to start a proper thread to find out why Compressor is crashing on him. It shouldn't be and I didn't see such a thread. Just saying it is crashing is useless for getting help with the issue. Lastly I was contrasting pro apps to consumer apps which directly referred to his interest in a quick start-to-end product.

By the way, I'm not convinced retistel is even a real person based on the four posts I see.
