What machine are you running and what Classic OS disc do you have? May well be best to set up a partition and install OS 9.2.2 on that. Provided of course when you formatted the drive you opted to instal OS 9 drivers?
Power Mac G3 400mz 640m ram 40g hd.I have Os 9.04 and i did partition the hd.yes i opted for the os 9 drivers. But when i popped in the os 9 disc and tried to install it then when i restarted it booted up in os 9.I didn't have the hd partitioned that time.So when reinstalled Os x i did partitioned it.So what i learning is that you have to have the two os on separate partitions.
OK being a 400MHz machine you can install OS X up to X.4.11. Did OS X which version? install okay? If not have you checked the firmware is up to date BEFORE doing the OS X install?
With a 40GB HDD suggest 30 GB partition for OS X and 10GB for OS 9.
