i am getting interested in doing a mythTV PVR box...
anyone here done something like this recently,?
is myth support fallen out, better to consider alternatives?
thanks!

-considering a linux package maybe ubuntu, in doing this trying to avide:
access to an easy to install SAMBA file sys manager thus ability to mount ANY file system
no big initial myth tv installation issues, its already there
some real world compatibility with mac & microsoft, at least things like file names, hardware
want a pvr that services MY needs not made to sell stuff i dont want to buy

-pci or pci-e capture card built in encryption decryption (hauppauge hvr1800) but linux drivers look rough?

-need to do a back-end front-end design so the main server is down in the basement

-must use an existing NTFS microsoft file server

-front-end able to stream video onto a macbook pro or dell portable

-future expansion: a front-end box with a better video and 5.1 audio cards and a projector
