Help my G5 wont start past login!

Hi.
I was recently running an update on my less than a year old G5, and I accidentally hit the power cord and it came unplugged. Next, I turned it on and it goes to the blue screen and nothing. I tried starting it in safe mode, it goes to the login, i enter my password and the login disappears and the background comes on, but that's it. I don't know what to do. It's ridiculous getting a Mac serviced here, and it was such a dumb accident, I don't know what the problem could be. I'm running on leopard if that helps...thanks!

when logging in, just after you hit the login button try holding shift. That will disable any start up items as you login.

Let me know how that works if not we can try something else
