MacBook Pro to 37" 42" or LCD TV

Hi All,

For our conference room I'm looking to use MacBook Pro plugged into either 36 or 43 LCD TV.
At this time I do not have neither of them.

What do you all suggest?
Is MacBook Pro capable plug into either 36 or 43 LCD TV?

If yes, what is the resolution and do I need any special cable?

Or any other suggestions are welcome.

Yep you can hook a MBP up to a screen of that size.
the MBP wont have any trouble running that panel at its native res.

as far as the lead required, that will depend on the TV.
Most likely you will need a DVI to either DVI/VGA/HDMI.

if you need audio at the LCD you will need to look more carefully tho, particularly if your planning on using HDMI as not all panels will have a seperate audio input for the HDMI inputs.

at that screen size a 720p panel would be fine, although personally, would still get a 1080p.

And being as this is for your business, also recommend staying away from the throw away brands - Vizio, Westinghouse, Polaroid, etc.; unless you purchase the extended warranty. These throw away brands have no after warranty parts available and if they break after the 12 mth warranty, you'll be purchasing a new one. You'll know them by their being priced $500 less than any of the others on the shelf.

Non-throw away manufacturers include Toshiba, Hitachi, Sony, Panasonic among a few others.

What is the highest resolutions can 42” LCD TV have.
If we plug in MBP’s to 42“LCD TV can it match the 42” LCD TV resolution?

Yes.. I plug my MBP into my 42" LCD TV all the time to watch HD movies and various other high res things and it runs at the native display of the TV. It looks very nice actually

You will have no probs running your MBP on a 42" LCD TV.

the most common resolutions in that size will be 1366x768 or 1920x1080.
the MBP will be able to match that.

when you do connect it, you may need to check or uncheck the "overscan" button in the screen preferences.

ive just bought a new 37" Samsung LCD HDTV 1080p and plug my MBP into that via vga using a dvi to vga adapter works great only thing is it doesnt fill the whole screen and there's about an inch on ether side of the screen. Havant figured out how to get it to fill the full thing yet.

what res are you running from the MBP?
you could try the overscan checkbox, or have a look at the aspect settings for the samsung, you may be able to stretch it, tho everything wil be slightly distorted.
the best option tho would be to plug into the samsung via either HDMI or DVI. some panels do have limitations on the res they can take through VGA. you can get DVI-HDMI and DVI-DVI leads so i would try that.

i dont have an overscan option for some reason. and its on the highest 1920 by 1080 my tv is 1080p. my friend is using HDMI and he has the same problem he has an identical MBP but hes got a toshiba tv.
37" 1080p
