- 20" Alum iMac 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo 3 GB RAM
I want to connect my Aluminum iMac to an HDTV and just need to double-check that I'm right. I want to hook it up to a Philips 47" flat-screen (http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=47PF9441D/37&scy=us&slg=AEN). It has an HDMI input and supports 480p, 720p, and 1080p, and supposedly supports 1080i, but when I switch my XBOX 360 to 1080i my screen goes blank, so I'm not sure if it will work. I've heard that 1080i is the best resolution to use, but was wondering if 1080p was also good if 1080i didn't work.
As for cables, I was wondering if an Apple Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APP...DY&fnode=home/shop_mac/mac_accessories/cables) along with an XtremeMac XtremeHD HDMI to DVI Cable for Apple TV (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APP...DY&fnode=home/shop_mac/mac_accessories/cables) would work. Does an HDMI to DVI cable work to change from DVI to HDMI or do I need a DVI to HDMI cable? Also, does the audio go through the cable along with the picture? If not, is it worth it to buy an audio cable or should I just use my iMac's speakers?
