Quick optical drive question..

I just scored a G4 PowerBook in perma-mint condish for a whipping $450!

Specs:

15" G4 PPC @ 1.33ghz
1gb RAM
80gb HDD
Bluetooth 2.0
Airport
Combo-Drive

My question is, can I take the SuperDrive out of my 14" G4 iBook and put it in the PB? Or is it completely un-do-able?

Don't know if you can or not, but why do that when you can buy a SuperDrive for your G4 and install it yourself. Give a look...

Argh! $100 is a lot of money.. I think I'm just going to go with a slim-external drive instead.

Yes you can!!

They are both 12.7 mm optical drives.

You can't swap them into the intel Macs which use 9.5 mm optical drives.

ww.ifixit.com have excellent DIY indtructions.

Just because the drives are the same size doesn't mean the drives were designed the exact same way.
