The other day I noticed some spots on the back of my lid (near the hinge) and I thought, "Ok, no big deal.." until I tried to clean it off. It doesn't come off and I've tried wiping it down w/ iKlear and a damp cloth, no use.

Upon closer inspection, it looks to me like it's beginning to flake away. Has anyone w/ a black macbook experienced something like this? thanks.

I can assure you they're not, esp. since there's some right by the seams. :-(

No, I'm afraid it doesn't. I was thinking it was a stain but nothing I can think of has gotten on it.

Possible its the start of flaking, mine has one massive area flaking off on the underside after only one year of careful usage, quite disappointing.

I know this person (http://marklem.com/mlem/?p=8) had a similar problem with his Black MacBook back on 2006. His problem was on the lid, and looks a little worse than yours. I'd just take it by the Apple Store and let them check it out. <><

Mine has flaked and i was told by the apple re seller here that as it was cosmetic they wouldnt fix it under the standard warranty, duno about extended applecare but i was gutted that they wouldnt fix mine, paid £999 for it a year ago and it looks like someone left it out in the sun or on the cooker to melt!

Thx all... I've e-mailed the exec. relations rep that I've been working with about it (w/ pics) and I'm waiting to hear back what she says.
