need help with Power Mac G3

I have a b&w G3 its got 400mhz chip 386 ram 20g hard drive and the board is a rev. 2.OK here is my situtaion i got this g3 of a guy on craigs list for $5 there was no hard drive in it and no battery on the board so i slapped a new battery and a hd in it.He had a copy of os x 10.3 sitting in the cd drive.I went to install it and everything installed fine but when it is done and restarts the apple logo comes up.After a minute or two a prohitary sign comes up.so i dont know what i`m doing wrong i reset the nvram and other stuff. I think the firmware is up to date.Any help would on this well be apperiated. thanks kevin

yes i know that but i installed it 4 times already
