Don't know if it their plan - always wary of these folk who add their own interpretation 'it is clear' when Safari is not mentioned, only older versions of IE.

Struth if you must have phishing, rules out an awful lot of IE 7 users who have turned the time waster off!

As the old saying goes Time Marches On. More and more browsers now support antiphishing technology either through add-ons or even natively. The problem with Safari is that there are no antiphishing add-ons that I'm aware of.

Safari is an excellent browser. It's fast as lightning however it lacks certain fundamental features that are becoming mainstream and essential in todays world. In order to put Safari on a feature parity with FireFox for example one must hack it with unsupported software such as PithHelmet or Saft.

The apparent direction that PayPal is taking will hopefully force the hand of Apple to add these features or at least create a built in Add-On utility similar to the one FireFox has.

It's my opinion that Apple will add the necessary features because they seem to be aggressively promoting Safari. Only time will tell but lets hope for the best......
