Hello everyone,

I'm back again with another problem. I got this kernel panic while trying to play a dvd image made by disk util in dvd player. It was a dvd image of the Resident Evil movie made using the setting dvd/cd master from the original DVD.

Can you please tell me what went wrong? Also, this is my first kernel panic so I was wondering if it corrupted any of my files and should I fix anything?

Also, what is a Kernel Panic? I'm assuming that my problem is a kernel panic because there's a log file call panic.log. Other than that, I have no idea what kernel panic is.

Thanks heaps in advance.

This is what the panic.log file said:

Kernel Panics are almost always related to hardware. They occur when the OS says "Ahh.I'm confused, What do I do?"

Call Apple up, keep that log, and they'll help you with this...They understand those weird logs, I dont!

logs aren't weird... your just incapable of understanding the unix jargon. each line records the processes that happen in your computer, usually the lst line is the one that cause the panic in the first place. should give you a clue as to why your getting panics.i'm sure you'd panic if someone shoved a bulk of lightning where the sun don't shine. :D

The logs - like a snap shot - tell the status of each key function at the stop (panic): PC=0x00679A60; MSR=0x00009030; DAR=0x00000004; DSISR=0x40000000; LR=0x00679550, here MSR was 0x00009030 at stop, yadda, and so on... If you have the codes, you can resolves the log

I rang Apple and they told me to go to their Authorised Repair place to get the Ram checked out. Not very helpful since doesn't happen anywhere beside while playin the DVD image from my HD.

But I went anyways and there was nothing wrong with the ram.

Do you have any other ideas? Thanks heaps.

PS. I also repaired permission and verified the HD using the OSX boot disk.

Do you think it's the copy protection on the DVD causing the problem?
