Is there a way to move files and folders in one step or do I always have to copy, then delete?

You can drag and drop unless you are copying/taking from an external or flash drive. Otherwise, you can just click and hold and drag the file where you want it to go. Hope this helps!

The only way I know is to hold down the CMD key when you click and drag your selected file or folder.
