Help with printer issue

Recently went form OS X 10.3.9 to 10.5. now having printer issues, I have reset the printer, and in the print que it says GenericClass: waiting for device, connecting.. anyways it sit in this forever and never connects any ideas I tryed downloading drivers from lexmark, and it only has 7100 seires listed, mine is a 7100 modle though so it should be correct. I'm stuck and I know apple won't be able to help and they are closed right now.
