I bought my Macbook Pro 15' in August 07.
In January, I installed leopard. Computer was fine for a few weeks and then I lost my power cord for a day and then all of a sudden the laptop wouldn't charge/power on.
--charged for at least 24 hours,
--tried multiple chargers,
--took the battery out, reset power etc.
I reinstalled Leopard before I called Apple because the Apple technician at my school said they would do that first anyways.
After I reinstalled the OS and got it back into my machine, it would power on to the gray Kernel panic screen. No login window, just straight up panic.
Sent the machine in for repairs, got it back saying they replaced the logic board. It worked for a couple of weeks with no problem, but now whenever the computer sleeps due to "critical battery" or if it somehow dies/sleeps from low battery (left at around 15-30%), the laptop won't turn on or start up at all.
The battery won't charge, and it's not the power cord, because it works in all other situations (in this case the indicator is green, as though the battery is charged). I've been on the phone with Apple care several times, taking the battery out, resetting the power manager, trying a different power source, etc.
What usually happens is if left with the cord plugged in, the computer will pop on anywhere from 30 minutes to four or five hours later, all the windows/applications running as though nothing ever happened. The last time I was on the phone with Apple they told me I had to bring the machine in to a store for repairs because they were the ones who issued my latest battery even though to me it seems obvious it's not the source of the problem. I'm putting off sending it in because I need the laptop for school despite its unreliability, but a hardware specialist said they would probably replace the logic board again, and that it doesn't warrant a replacement.
This is super frustrating as a mac user when I will put my laptop to sleep after class, get something to eat, get to my room and then it won't start at all. No status lights, no sounds, nothing--my room mate is like, see, PC's are totally better.
Any ideas on what is causing this problem/how to deal with Apple to fix the problem for good?
