Hello everyone.

I just bought an old 20 GB iPod on eBay.

Photo131.jpg

It said 'Excellent Condition' and all that. I turned it on, and I got the low battery signal. I went downstairs and plugged it into my MacBook Pro, and left it all day.

I came home after seven hours at work, and same story. I touch it, the drive inside spins, I see the Apple logo, and it dies.

Can anyone help me out? Should I contact the eBay seller for a refund?

Thanks!

Sounds like the battery has seen better days. If you left it charging all day and it won't hold a charge, I'd contact him.
Read the description he gave again, to make sure it wasn't mentioned.

He said "Works great" and the picture showed it on.

No mention of a bad battery. I sent him an E-mail.

Wow. Turns out I didn't know that the Third Generation iPod needs a Firewire cable to charge.

Yeah, the 3rd gen is USB sync only. It will charge and sync via Firewire.
