For some reason I have a few Alias' under Applications. Where is there proper place on my computer? And what exactly is an Alias?

Thanks.

So, is that saying that I can delete the Alias without affecting anything?

If you're familiar with Windows, an alias is the same as a shortcut. They go wherever you want them and can be deleted without harm. Just make sure it IS an alias and not the actual file.

New question about Alias':

I downloaded Firefox and Thunderbird, and whenever I open them an Alias opens up and appears on my Desktop. How do I keep it from appearing on my desktop? I've tried deleting them... they don't go anywhere. It's like Chucky, it just keeps coming back.
