Is there any way that i can turn off the headphone jack on my macbook and have sound come just from the built in speakers? The jack from my headphones broke inside so its stuck there acting like my headphones are plugged in. Ive tried to get it out but Im going to need to bring it in to the apple store to get them to take it appart to take it out.

Black MacBook 2GB, Mac Pro 2.66Ghz 3GB X1900.
There's usually a switch in there. The speakers are redirected to the headphone jack using circuitry instead of the OS.

Not much you can do until it goes to the store.

If I wanted to fix it myself I'd get a pin and glue the pinhead to the remains of the jack and pull it out.

i tried that and no luck, but i didnt use superglue, just regular so it might not have been strong enough. is there some kind of lever that keeps the jack in place that will keep it from coming out?

you think it would do any damage to the computer to stick a magnet in it?
