Hi Guys, New member here.

I was hoping the GURUs here may be able to help me.

I have an older mirrorred face G4 dual 1G.

It recently started acting weird and then stopped working altogether.

I can't even get it to power on at all.

When I go to start I get 4 beeps followed by 5 flashes of the power light.

My research has told me that there is an issue with the logic board.

I have checked the 3.6v battery and it is fine. I also have done the following:

reset PRAM (just once mind you)

Pulled all RAM and reseated in different ports and configurations.

Pulled and reset the video card.

Pulled everything else off of all USB ports and FW ports.

I have sice taken the logic board out to have a look.

All looks fine, but I really don't know if there is any way to test a board to see if it's bad, other than putting a new one in.

That's where I'm at now.

Any and all suggestion are welcome and greatly appreciated.

Dave

Bump for additional info.

Just doing some research in this forum and saw a posting about a red light on the Logic board signifying an overheating problem and could be fried.

I do have the red light on the board.

There is a board on e-bay right now for $130 BIN, should I snag it?

Thanks again,
Dave

Hey Soul, thanks for that, but I have seen that which lead me on my search about the logic board.

Can you describe this in laymans terms for me. And what it means?

Thanks,
Dave

More research has conflicting answers to Bad Checksum for remainder of boot ROM.

Some said ROM boot was a chip soldered on the daughter processor board and other said it was a chip on the main logic board. A little confused here.
