Firefox 3 beta 5 is out. Plugins are not working yet, which is fairly normal for any of the beta until the final release is out. It seems pretty darn quick.

Upgraded last night. Waiting for Adblock to be updated.

Main change I noticed is that when you type in the address bar, the drop down suggestions are smaller than they were in beta 4. Thankfully, they didn't revert it to the one in Firefox 2 and other browsers.

i just installed this a few minutes ago. runs pretty good, but i imagine i'll still be using safari because it seems like firefox is just a little too clunky for me (in terms of the gui).

plus safari just handles text so well that it's too hard to switch. it's not worth it for me. still a great browser though. i'll be keeping it on my system either way.

I love how it adapts to the way you use the address bar to search history!

You can disable the internal check for addons. I still use all my 2.x addons:
attachment.php

wezman, you can make the GUI nicer. Just customize the toolbar:
Show: Icons, Use small icons

attachment.php

I started using it today too. Noticeably faster than beta4 was :D

Been trying it out since it came out, and I've gotta say, it's a step backward from beta 4. A lot of websites tend not to work, and some just plain get messed up. I have to restart Firefox to fix the problem.

Till a RC is made available, I'm sticking with beta 4

Add this boolean to the about:config screen...

name:extensions.checkCompatibility
value:false

Which editor are you using to add this boolean?

Way... way too many specs to list.
In the address field type 'about:config'

Done... thanks. I don't use a whole lot of extensions, but the ones that I do use are pretty "must have". Nice to have them back! ;-)

Sweet! I never knew you could do that, thats awesome. I like Beta 5 seems a little faster and I haven't had any problems with sites not working.

I just installed it. It does seem to load a bit faster than beta 4. I've run it through a bunch of sites and had no trouble with it at all. I'm with wezman, though. I think I'll stick with Safari ... for now.

fabulous! i was just thinking of switching over to safari coz of the frequent hang-ups while video playback... this thing is pretty fast and stable... and looks droolworthy too!

waiting for plugins to be upgraded though... especially greasemonkey...

I don't like the gigantic automatic drop down for history when you start typing in the address bar...fortunately, I have found a simple fix that works for me.

browser.urlbar.maxRichResults in the configuration page will allow you to choose the max amount of results to be shown. I have lowered mine to 3. Enough to be effective, but not so many that it fills half of the page :)

I went back to beta 4 and the sound came back.
