I'm about to upgrade the memory in my Powerbook G4 1.5GHz. I currently have 2x 512mb chips and want to replace them for 2x 1Gb chips. My question is that the chips I have are PC2700 running at 333MHz but I have been told that I can use PC3200 chips running at 400MHz.

Is this true?

I also need to confirm that the chips needed are 184 pin as I cannot find this information anywhere!

Thanks in advance.

Your PowerBook needs the 200 pin PC2700 chips. The PC3200 chips have 184 pins and will not fit!

Thanks for the reply.

I eventually found some info on the pins, 200 being the correct number as you have pointed out but I have found 200 pin PC3200 chips. Would these work as from what I can tell they would be a bit quicker but for some reason they also seem to be much cheaper?
