Hi

I have a Linux based NAS (Icy Box IB-4220-B), which supports sharing either Samba or NFS, obviously I'd rather not used Samba although simpler to implement.

I have tried:

mount_nfs host:/share /Volumes/mount_point

and got:
/Volumes/mount_point: Operation not permitted

I then tried using finder Go > Connect to Server, using:

nfs://host/path
nfs://host:/path

And I get:

Could not connect to the server because the name or password is not correct.

My OS X username and password are identical to the username and password on the NAS, the NFS shares have been set up wth the correct IP addresses for both my Macs.

I can't find /etc/fstab and don't know what to put in an new file.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Windows irony

Get this, I can access the NFS shares on my Windows test machine shares Microsoft Services for UNIX (SFU). I copied the /etc/groups and /etc/passwd files from the NAS so SFU would correctly map users and it works fine.

From OS X, I can access the Samba shares fine, so that proves the usernames and passwords are correct.
