Using PC hardware to make a Mac.....IS IT POSSIBLE?

I have a Windows PC with an intel processor that I don't use very much since I switched to using mainly Macs about a year ago. I am wondering if it would be possible to purchase a new hd for this computer and install Leopard onto it.

Am I right that this would basically work as well as any intel mac computer? Has anyone on here ever tried doing this before?
