What are the upload and download speeds of EDGE and EV-DO Rev. A from Verizon Wireless? Is EDGE referred to as 2G?

EDGE would be more akin to 2.5G. Since you're in Jersey, you would find my speeds to be comparable to what you would get. I've run speed tests on EDGE and get somewhere in the vicinity of 200kbps.

EVDO can be considered as 3G, so it gets significantly faster speeds, something like a few megabits per seconds.

Edge is a GSM technology and HSDPA is sort of the high speed version. 1x RTT is sort of the CDMA version of edge (though 1x was faster then edge) and EVDO is it's high speed version. EVDO gives speeds 700-900kbps and i've seen reports of EVDO revision A giving speeds of 2.5-2.8Mbps. There are rumors of the iphone getting a hsdpa update this summer. So it should have similar speeds of EVDO Rev A.
