Dragging playlists from Ipod back into Itunes

Does anyone know why I can't just drage a playlist that's on the Ipod back into Itunes? I figured I would for sure be able to do this. Does this mean that if I rip a CD and copy it to the Ipod that's it and to get it on Itunes again i would have to rip it again?

Apple does this so that people don't just pass around iPods and take each others songs

Take a look at iPodlounge.com and they have some programs that allow you import songs off of the ipod
