Hey guys, I have heard multiple times of people changing the whole theme of their operating system. I have only been able to change the individual icons using Candybar, but I wanted to change the every icon/folder/menu to go together in one cohesive theme. Can anyone explain how to do this? I have leopard....if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance guys!

I don't think it works with leopard :(

Also, where do I even download these themes? What do I have to do once I download them?

Sorry for all the questions guys, I'm just new with my mac (2 weeks) and am looking forward to customizing it, if I could only figure out how....

You'll have to wait till shapeshifters is finished coding for leopard.

You download the themes from various theme sites (check google) and with in shapeshifter itself. But unfortunately there is no way to change your theme on leopard until shapeshifter is updated.

Thank you all for your help! How long do you think it will take shapeshifter to get coded for leopard? Do you think it will be soon?

This is how to do it yourself

First download icons.

Websites such as interface lift and deviant art are good places to start. Or google "Mac Icons" see what you come up with. Download the icons.

Then...

Right click the icon.... Click show in finder

Then on your icon in the finder, press command+i
Should bring up this

Go to your downloaded icons, and open them. Copy them (ether the icon itself or the preview file) by hitting command+c

And there you go.
As a note, you might have to take your icon out of the dock, and then reinsert it into the dock, for it to become the new icon.

Hope this helps :)

no.. what exactly do you want to do, there may be a work around if all you want is a different menu bar color and not a whole new theme.

I don't believe you can... there maybe a file in the library that you can change. Otherwise you can (kinda) change the color of the menu bar by taking a screen shot of your computer opening up photoshop, selecting the menu bar, filling it with the color of your choice and then saving that picture to make your desktop. the transparent menu bar will show the color you chose that will be under it.

Wasn't there some issues with APE and Leopard? I think that was one of the reasons shapeshifter isn't working with Leopard. I used SS on Tiger and dug it, though I found that the themes available were somewhat limited.

Classic OS theme

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the classic OS theme onto Leopard?
I've heard of fruitmenu, but does that give us only the classic OS style menus or do we get the windoe styles as well?
