compresing + booting an iso

i have a large iso file and i want to burn it to my ipod mini. However, i do not have enough disk space, so i wanted to know if there is a way to compress an iso file with it is still being botable when i plug in my ipod drive

I don't think this is technically possible. My only suggestion is to try and break the ISO down into different parts, and compress those parts that don't need to be bootable or in ISO format, expanding them on demand. I am not sure how you'd do this, or even if it is possible.

If the ISO is an OS (say a linux DVD) you might be able to do this.

so if it were an OS (linux) how would i do this? I'll try this method on my the football manager iso.
