upgrade from 10.3.9

Hello,
Im trying to upgrade from 10.3.9 using my 10.4 upgrade disk everything goes good until during the install then it tells me that an error had occured and the install was unsuccessful try reinstalling.attempted this three times with no luck any ideas. i ran the disk utilities and repaired permissions and even ran tech tool...still the same message

What 10,4 disk do you have? Is it a retail version? Does it say whether it's 10.4 or 10.4.6 for example?

Have you considered Archive and Install option?

10.4 retail upgrade, same thing happens when i archive and install.....will i have to erase and install

Before you erase anything, check the disk you're using for any damage.
