Sorry if this is not the proper place to post this. I've seen a lot of threads describing how to connect the iMac to a TV to watch movies or cable on the computer but is there a way to connect it directly to the cable wall input bypassing the TV? We have our iMac in our study (which has a cable outlet but no TV) - is this possible? If so, how would I do it?

Thanks in advance. I've owned Macs for years but I'm not a techie so have a hard time figuring this stuff out on my own.

You would need to get a TV tuner to be able to watch TV directly from the wire coming off the wall. Check out Elgato for some of the best Mac tuners.

You have a few things backwards. People connect their Macs to watch movies on the TV, no on the computer as described.
If you want to watch cable TV on your Mac, try the eyeTV.
