Sharing iTunes Movies

I am having trouble viewing movies on a PC over a LAN from my MacBook. Files are unprotected h.264 mp4 files. ITunes and Quicktime cannot play the files over the network but when the files are copied to the PC they are played without a problem. Also, I can use VLC on the PC to play the files over the network.

Any suggestions?
