I am finallllly typing this on my new 2.4 MacBook. I'm sure most of you can imagine how excited I am.

Best birthday ever!!!

Can anyone recommend a good text software? I'm still debating whether or not to get Office 2008.

You can download NeoOffice for free, but I think Office 2008 (although I got mine for less than $40) is really good. However, if all you need is a strong word processing program, then iWork '08 should do more than fine and is only $79.

Congrats on your MacBook and Happy Birthday! :D

Happy birthday to you indeed. Welcome to the Mac platform! :)

Why not give iWorks's Pages a spin, see if you like it and if it meets your needs ?

Happy Birthday!!! Your mac comes with a trial version of iWork '08 and Office (2004 i think?), so try both of 'em out and buy which ever one you like better and think is more cost effective.

Yes, that is an awesome birthday! Happy Birthday! I've found Pages, part of Apple iWork '08, a great word processor.

I didn't get either trial version on my MacBook. Is there somewhere where I can test out the iWork Pages?

Congrats and Happy Birthday. I picked up Office 2008 through my University for around $175 off. If you're a student, you should check into software availability and discounts for students and faculty. You can save a boatload. Anyways, I went with Office because it's less hassle as a student as far as compatibility with others.

Enjoy.

Hmm, it should be somewhere in your application folder, if not follow the link my fellow mac-forum goer presented.
