Before I pose this question I will start by saying I don't pirate DVD's. I have a rather large collection of PURCHASED movies that I want to back up and store on a file server I building in my house.

With that out of the way. I haven't actually purchased my new mac pro yet. I am in the process of doing all the research for the software and hardware I will need so my new mac will be able to do everything my current windows pc is doing.

during my searching, I have came across the fact that all apple superdrives are rip locked from the factory. Not knowing anything about macs my first impulse was that when I actually buy it, replace the optical drives and I won't have that problem any more.

My question is can you even do that, if so, what brands and types will work?

finally, if replacing the super drive is not an option, is there a work around?
