I accidentally stepped on my iBook G4 with a stiletto. The screen now looks slightly distorted.

Can this be fixed?

Not for cheap. Would probably cost quite a bit to get an LCD replaced.

The screen alone is around $150:

Do you use it on the go much? You could always just hook up an external LCD otherwise.

That's not that bad. How difficult is it to fix it yourself?

I just bought a macbook air but I'm too attached to the G4 to let go. I don't want to hook up an external LCD because it just won't feel right.

How does one step on a laptop screen while wearing a stilleto? Playing Dance Dance Revolution on the keyboard, are we? :Smirk:

This is a tough question to answer, as everyone has different knowledge of computer hardware/components. The LCD isn't terribly difficult to replace, assuming you have an aptitude for taking things apart and remembering how they go back together. (and a great deal of patience) I'd say give it a try ;)

I never thought a mac fan could be this anally retentive. Are you sure you're not a mod at the i.love.bill.gates forums as well?
Looks like Belladonna doesn't need any more help.
