MacBook in sleep mode while travelling?

13 inch Macbook Pro Retina, 2.7ghz, 128gb SSD
Would it be safe for my macbook to be in sleep mode while I'm travelling. I would be travelling by train and tube... Could it be dangerous or anything?

I travel with my Macbook in sleep mode all of the time. There are no problems from my side. Coming from a Windows machine, I am pleasantly surprised at the speed it comes back up from the sleep mode.
