Oh I see. Cause the iMac has this one screw which I so easily unscrewed with a junky screwdriver I had at home.

Hows the performance boost btw?

so far the only difference i noticed was a faster startup, the real test will come when i love 5-7 different things.

Are you saying you needed to order a special screw driver to open up the MBP to install more RAM?

I upgraded my MBP up to 4GB a few weeks ago and I really haven't noticed much difference than when I had the original 2. I used the Kensington ram from BestBuy.

As for the screwdriver, I used a jewelers screwdriver. The screws are insanely short.

Sears is the place to go - I fortunately had a small Phillips that came with a screwdriver set I bought years ago to repair my eyeglasses, so I had that to change my memory... but while looking around for a T8 Torx screwdriver to change my hard drive, I found the easiest place to get it without having to buy an expensive Torx set was Sears, where it is available as a single screwdriver for $3.99...

So go to Sears first, then on-line.

This is consistent with what I see in the memory meter for my G5. I have 2.5 GB of RAM in my machine (it came with 0.5 GB and I added 2 GB more). I have almost never seen it come anywhere near full usage of the 2.5 GB of RAM, even when I have Photoshop, Thunderbird, Firefox and iTunes all running at the same time. Ditto for my MBP, although I don't have Photoshop there, and run X11 and GIMP instead.

As a result, I would not expect a big gain by adding more RAM. 2 GB is plenty already! ...unless you are doing heavy duty video or music editing, in which case MAYBE it might help...

strange, I used some old screw driver I found in the garage to upgrade mine. Must be 20 years old.
