i have macbook pro and the last few weeks in school we have been studying cmd prompt and i was wondering if there was any mac equivalent

The Terminal (Applications => Utilities) is similiar to the command prompt in Windows. Note that Mac OS X is a UNIX-based operating system, so navigation and commands are quite different.
