Anybody get the update yet? I just did.

From Apple.com:

"Apple today introduced the world’s fastest web browser for Mac and Windows PCs — Safari 3.1. In addition to loading web pages 1.9 times faster than Internet Explorer 7 and 1.7 times faster than FireFox 2, Safari 3.1 runs JavaScript up to six times faster than other browsers. Available for free download for Mac OS X and Windows, Safari 3.1 is also the browser to support the latest innovative web standards needed to deliver the next generation of highly interactive Web 2.0 experiences."

Finally out of beta on Windows! I hope that means they've solved the stability problems that plagued the previous releases.

I never had any stability issues with Safari on Windows (3.0.3 onwards I think). Only that 10053/54 bug used to get to me. Let's hope it's gone.

So no one can give me the download link?

The thing is, as I wrote in the earlier post: Can someone quickly give me the exact download link to the Safari for mac file? I'm using Firefox on Windows and I can't download the mac version...

If you want to run it on Windows, get the Windows version, if you want to run it on Mac OS, use the update function! Did I get anything wrong?

The issue is you have to go through that page. I tried to paste the resulting URL when the download starts into firefox and it took me right back to apple.

What is up that you can't use Software update on your iMac?

Well I have dialup at home so it'll take me days together to download that (TUAW says 130MB). In the office I have broadband but don't have my lappy with me to download it here. Only PCs. I guess I will have to go to the Apple store and pick it up then...

Am still looking for a direct URL. How long will you be there with the high speed? Will get back asap if I can find something.

I don't remember the download being 130MB. It was much smaller.

Thanks a lot! I can wait :)

In Safari, if you right-click the currently downloading file, you can select "Copy Address". Similar stuff goes on in Firefox.

I had tried that it and did not work in firefox but did it again and this one works. It's the Leopard installer. Hope this works for you.

http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite...i3/061-4224.20080318.V3oi5/Safari31UpdLeo.dmg

it's 39 Megs.

An update, even though Safari 3.1 is a lot better in many ways it's still quite behind the latest Webkit build on Acid 3. Webkit is the best browser and is very close to completely passing Acid 3 test. Hope webkit gets updated in OSX.

Webkit build gets 93.
