Free up CPU resources for Al. Powerbook?

I'm curious to see if there's a list of processes that I can safely turn off in Activity Monitor or by way of some other utility.

I have a 1.5 15" Powerbook, and it's primary function is as a DAW with Pro Tools.

I just switched to Macs last year, and have learned a lot from this forum...

I know with Windows computers, there's all kinds of services and functions you can turn off to free up resources.. These are *essential* for proper audio recording.

I'd love to know what's "safe" to turn off on a MAC.

I already turned off "iTunes helper," as I read it was not essential.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated!
Keep in mind, the Powerbook's function as a DAW is more important than anything else. The only other thing I do with it is light surfing and email check.

Thanks!
