I'm really very new to this - so if this the wrong section for my question, pls direct me to the correct one. I've found this forum to be very enlighting!

I'm very serious about trading my pc for a mac laptop. They are really very nice. So, my question is.....
If I can purchase a new macbook - 13" 2.4ghz - 2gb - 250 hard drive for very close to the same cost as a refurbished macbook pro 15" 2.2ghz - 2gb - 120 hard drive. What's the best way to go??

I would be using for general computing stuff- word processor - itunes - photos - occassional movie download - email and some web surfing - cell phone synch. I doubt very seriously I would be doing any gaming.

Thanks; I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

I would say go for the MacBook then, unless you want the bigger screen.

If you don't mind the slightly smaller screen then the MacBook is slightly more portable. Frankly you can't go wrong either way though.

If you have the money then I'd say get the MBP refurb. You get the same warranty as new with the refurbs too. That being said, it sounds like the MB would do perfectly fine for what you need. I think it really comes down to if you want to pay a little more for something that might be a little overpowered for what you need. However if you decide to get into the Mac more and need the power you'll be glad you bought the MBP over the MB.
