would it be better for my computer if i let the fans on full blast at all times, keeping it nice and cool? battery life is not an issue for me because it is always on my desk at home.

The fans are thermostatically controlled. They will kick on when they need to, there is no need to manually control them.

As with any mechanical part, the fans have an Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF) rating, meaning that the more time it is in use, the quicker it fails.
